"Much of my current work confronts Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and their effects within a contemporary context. The nuclear bomb, ecological destruction, and x-ray security are some of the themes that run through the work. The "Active Ingredients Series", a recent body of work (where the active ingredients are used motor oil and earth) takes a largely ignored or acutely avoided waste mess from the ground and puts it into an art context where viewers gain new use for it. I've used these materials to make drawings, paintings and sculptures. The variety of technical approaches with the material allows various approaches to the content. I try to provide a format where connections can be made to cycles of war, waning ecological balance, and technology."
